One of the biggest leaps for Cloud Storage this year was when it was introduced to the gaming world in the form of an update from Microsoft whereby users of the Xbox 360 could use cloud storage to store their game saves. Users of the popular gaming system were given 512MB of free storage, which might not sound like a lot but considering it is designed to store their saved game files then this cloud storage solution will provide sufficient space for hundreds of save files. The cloud storage appears as another storage drive on the Xbox when you choose where to save your game, and although it may not seem amazing, it does have some important benefits to its users. For example it is never guaranteed that the Xbox 360 hard-drive won’t fail, and therefore everything on the hard-drive will become corrupted and without cloud storage the game saves will be lost, and furthermore if you prefer to save you game files on a memory card then this can easily be lost along with the save game files. The cloud storage solution on the Xbox 360 doesn’t just protect against data loss however, it also makes the process of playing with friends much easier, as game saves can be plucked straight out of the cloud instead of recovering gamertags etc.
