The Death of the Hard Drive

Ever since the floods which devastated Thailand last year, hard drives have been in very short supply and very high in price. This means that there could never be a more suitable time to invest in a cloud computing solution, not just because hard drives are in short supply but also due to the multitude of other benefits you gain from doing so. Cloud computing takes the backup rule book and shreds it as it is a completely new way of storing data, but it is much better in so many aspects. So you’d expect the newer and better way to store files to be much more expensive especially as the price of hard drives has increased, however users of cloud computing shouldn’t see an increase in their fees – in fact the opposite might be the case. Done properly, cloud computing providers can offer the service for very little and still run a profitable organisation. Therefore despite the horrible atrocities in Thailand, the floods have actually benefited the providers of cloud computing as people will always need to store their data, but this means that people will also be able to  benefit from additional cloud computing features like file and folder sharing.
